So, a long long time ago, when I did MMO play stuffs, I found myself frequently hitting the caps lock key instead of shift, not noticing, and wondering why the hell my shift-bound abilities weren't going off.
My solution at the time? Tear off my caps lock key.
My current sad little three-key input compaq keyboard now lacks a caps lock key (and also has a devastated 'sleep' button in the corner, different story.)
Well, my keyboard has been on the fritz, with intermittent shift useablity and the occasional random beep, so I borrowed Karl's extra z-board yesterday for LAN. And, while playing the WAR forever free trial (They've REALLY revamped the starting zone, by the way. And their tutorial is actually worthwhile. I applaud their efforts.), realized that I was once again accidentally hitting caps lock a lot. I made some sad comment, and Cameron, (once again saving the day?) mentioned that you could disable it in the keyboard settings.
Some investigation revealed that this was not as simple as he indicated, and I actually had to do a registry key edit. But it was as simple as downloading a reg change, running it, and rebooting. And since the guy -explains- what the registry edit is doing, I could be assured that he wasn't ninjaly installing things on my machine
Remember kids, don't mutilate your keyboard until you have no other options.
LO AND BEHOLD: Disable your Caps Lock key.
