Experimentals

Grocery shopping is a dreaded affair. No, really. It is. I hates it so very, very much.

Recently, Cameron gave me his old iPod, so I've been music-ing it up on my walk to and from class. I highly enjoy having a soundtrack to life.

Seeing as, on the rare occasion that Karl and I go shopping together, it's 90% less painful, and seeing as, when I have music for my walk to and from campus it becomes 90% less painful, I put two and two together and came up with this glorious experimental situation: iPod + shopping!

To the music of Barcelona and The FOALS, shopping was 80% less painful.

I will never shop without music again. In fact, I might just endeavor to have a music bubble forever outside the confines of the place I live. Dun dun duuuun.

I feel sorry for that one kid who committed suicide because he couldn't find his iPod. Sure, it was retarded..but maybe he needed his music bubble way more than any of us can imagine, and losing it was just that devastating.

Also, this almost inspired me to get a  iPad: http://kotaku.com/5516829/even-a-cat-can-play-ipad-games

Miracle Whip vs. Mayonnaise

I have decided to finally duel it out as to which one of the above I like. As a child, we always had both in the household, and I would use them interchangeably. As I had left over broccoli from when Dora was here, and these condiments since who knows when,, I decided to do it Japanese style.

So I have a bowl. With Miracle Whip. And Mayo. And I am now dipping the broccoli in each and taste testing.

 The results:

Miracle Whip is like a cheap whore. Thrilling, short term, tangy, not to mention cheap, but a little shaky on the visual appearance, and not very high quality.

Mayonnaise is possibly a geisha. It has a smoother, cultivated taste to it so you need less of it,  more refined, and more concerned with its visual representation. It lasts longer, for it is the more experienced condiment, and as quality requires, it is higher priced.

There we go. It is proven. I'm OK with miracle whip, but I prefer mayo.

I also don't think I really like broccoli...

Furnace fixed!

Oh glorious day.

Also, Dora uploaded all the pics she took of her trip out: http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c172/Dancri/my%20hovercraft%20is%20full%20of%20eels/

Yes

(1:33:25 AM) Karl: YOU SHOULD KNOW, HOWEVER, THAT YOU HAVE CHANGED THE WAY I EAT NERDS
(1:33:30 AM) Karl: USED TO GRAB CLUMPS OF THEM AND NOM
(1:33:33 AM) Me: >_>
(1:33:34 AM) Me: ONE BY ONE
(1:33:36 AM) Me: IS THE ONLY WAY
(1:33:48 AM) Karl: I DIDN'T DO IT THAT WAY BEFORE
(1:33:53 AM) Me: I HAVE CIVILIZED YOU

It's called a speed stick, it's not expensive, it's called a speed stick, it's not expensive...

Dora came out for a few days! (Whoo!) We did fun things! Like visiting the Shrine of the Sun to Will Rodgers (Not Mr. Rodgers.), the Zoo, Helen something Falls, making beer bread, wandering around Old Colorado City, throwing Soup the Sheep at eachother (also acquisioning (spel-whatever) Noodle Cup, a mini Soup.) etc. etc.

Much fun was had. :3

Sans the furnace going out on her last day here...will take a few days for my Uncle to get the parts shipped to fixxit. 56 degrees is surprisingly cold when indoors. The sun is a wonderful wonderful thing.

Thus, for the sake of both Penny (who wants to find letterboxes with stamps in on some trail or other) and myself, I now preform the GOOD WEATHER DANCE.

God of Greater Inconvenience

I'm usually well patronronized by the god of minor inconvenience. This weekend, his big sister (only a woman could be such a bitch) decided to give me some attention.

So, Dora is coming this Wednesday (ossum) so I've been working double time for Peak to try to get things squared away so I can -not- work when she's here. It has been nothing but disastrous.

Inconvenience/Disaster .5:  There has been that sudden outbreak of scale after draining my water heater that has rendered my water undrinkable (had to buy a 50$ in fridge water filtering thing + extra filters) and forces me to clean out my faucets every few days because they get clogged with the nasty white crunchy bits.

Disaster 1: Due to naming convention for work, all the files are precedented by a particular handle and then a few semi-ambiguous words. As four of the words were the same between to files, I saved over one file that I had already completed because I didn't look too closely at the file name. I was able to use Windows 7's restore previous version option (OH THANK GOD) and only had to redo an hour's worth of work to get to where I was with the original file. (I now name my files COMPLETELY different things when I'm working on them, and change their names when I commit them to the project.)

Disaster 2:  So I'm happily working along on another scene, spending more time on it than usual (an extra two hours) because I know that I can use it on another scene and reduce the number of assets I have to make and time it takes to make them, over all. I had spent -all- day working on it. It was 1 something am. I'm putting ONE FINAL FINISHING TOUCH on a 6 hour project...when Flash crashes. I'm not too concerned. I open the file. 'Error: Cannot open this file.'. CORRUPTED. There is no way to recover *.FLA files without having saved a SWF, and since what I do doesn't have animation, I never make SWFs. There was no 'previous version' as I hadn't restarted my computer since making it. (It was a one-day thing.) I cried. A loooot. I spent the next three hours (in tears) trying to use various programs to recover it.

Disaster(ish) 3:  So, it's the next day. I think the god of Greater Inconvenience paired up with her little brother for this one. So, it's Sunday. I spend the day working on remaking the above project. Late afternoon, I realize that I actually have a major midterm Monday that I haven't been able to study for. At all. I say 'fukkit' and keep working on the remake. Later, on a break, I go, "Oh, huh, I should read these announcements from Friday about these two classes." They're both announcements for major projects due on the 19th. Five days. To do two major projects. (The professor -had- promised not to give us anything major before spring break...) Two major projects. Which usually take me about 10 hours each. I continue to 'fukkit' and keep trucking on this work project.

It's 4:30pm. The power goes out. THE EFFING POWER GOES OUT. I sit there staring at my blank monitor, going, 'oooooooh fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu~ because in all my corrupt file recovery searches, I had read that Flash is notoriously bad about corrupting flash files that were open during a crash. The power is out for a half hour. For the whole neighborhood, including traffic lights.  I did some cleaning in the daylight.

When it comes back up, I get back to work. Luckily, my project did not corrupt. I set up a system where I'm subversioning my work every time I take a break. I keep working. 9:35pm. POWER GOES OUT. Again, I'm staring at a blank screen, as I was once more in the middle of work. Stare. Stare. Stare. Power is out for another half hour. I can't actually do anything because it's night and I can't see. I play a bit of Disgaea on my DS.

Power comes back up, I finish my work, (5.33 hours to recover the 6 hours of work I'd done initially on that project.) Karl gets home. After another hour or so, we play a game, League of Legends. We lose horribly. We go to play again, we're in the queue with some friends...POWER GOES OUT.

I just went to bed.

It is now today. Time to fail a midterm.
