School vs. Games

I'll admit, I'm having a pretty hard time balancing work and play this semester. I only go to school three days of the week, but they're painful days.

Two of my classes are a complete waste of time but takes up a lot of time, another is almost a complete waste of time and requires lots of group work, my GDD coding class isn't very fun as we're going over algorithmic complexity and stuff that I don't understand really well, and the final one..yes..my Business Law class...

It turned out to really surprise me. It's my favorite class of the semester, and I was all "Omigaw, this class is going to suck, who wants to know about business law?" Admittedly, I think the subject would be less fun if I had a different professor. Dr. Rory Lewis is a bit odd, and on the first day of class, scared me. He's arrogant, and vindictive, and has his set of rules that he'll own you on if you don't obey. (That's what two PhDs will do to you,) But if you play by his rules, you're fine. He's really cool- really scary- and kinda weird, but damn if he isn't the best teacher I've had my entire college run. He makes the stuff really interesting, and purposely goes on tangents every 13 minutes because one of his old professors did it and told them it was because every 13 minutes, people start thinking about sex, and therefore he has to interrupt your thought train.

Aaand, Karl, Justin, and Spock started the Warhammer Online Beta a bit back, and I was hanging around with them while they played it, kinda wanting to play, too. It goes live, and Karl and Justin bought me the game for my birthday ('cause Justin wanted revenge for me not telling him it was my birthday, and Karl is Karl and always wants to buy me stuff,) so now I'm playing a lot of Warhammer with them and a few other friends, and having a lot of fun.

In the end, school had been pretty pressure-ful and I don't feel like I've had much time to fool around or play or just hang around with Karl and do nothing- and on a walk a week or so back, Karl admitted he felt the same. (I dunno how he survives, he's taking one more twice-a-week class than I, and still works...) I think I'll get through it, as we're almost at midterms, but I feel like I have less time than I did during a semester in which I got out at like 2-3 in the afternoon, but went 5 times a week.

Oh, I got a letter from the National Society of Leadership and Success 'cause I got a 3.3+ GPA last semester. It had an appeal 'cause they write you a letter of reccommendation to whatever job you apply for, and you can get awards and scholarships, but I don't know what they want from me as a student besides my member's fees, and I was always a skeptical of the Honor Society cult in Jr. High and avoided it, and this just seems like a college version. That, and I have a bunch of math to take upcoming, and my GPA will plummet as a result. So, I think I'm just going to ignore their letter.

I did some writing today in leiu of some homework (which I got done anyway,) and I'm liking it. It's still the Alcest/Idris Bound mess of a story, but I managed to seam together a few peices so they flowed together on a time line. I miss the days when I had Dora to share artwork and writing with- we were good critiques of eachother's work. I dunwanna show Karl 'cause I want to show him a finished piece and not to ruin the story, and he's not terribly keen on my meandering super-run-on-sentence style to begin with, so as my writing is now, it's long -and- confusing 'cause I haven't worked it all out yet.

Karl and I are going to the zoo tomorrow~ his parents were going for some reason, and invited us along. <3>

Nothing else new. Loving my Warrior Priest in Warhammer. I *zotbonk* and then heal. >.>

Birthday~!

So, I said I'd elaborate on the best birthday ever. Now I shall~

On muh birthday, I woke up, was up for about an hour, and then went over to Karl's. We turned off AIM so people couldn't IM and interrupt or know he was home and decide to drop by uninvited, etc. (His friends tend to do that. XD)

Once I got there, he wanted to share presents~ So I said I'd open one of them. First, I got his awesomest ever Ideagonk card! Ideagonk is a robot and turtle comic he doodles out sometimes, and it has become somewhat of a celebrity among his friends and I. Anyway, so it has the Turtle and Ide-I can just show you!~

Outside:

Inside with sentimental wording cut out. It's mine and mine alone~

Best birthday card ever, I must say.

As for presents, Karl gave me a choice of which to get first: One that can be wrapped, and one that can't. I picked the wrapped one, and giggled because I had told him the day before he didn't have to wrap it..but he had second thoughts while he went to get the present, and put it in a pillow case as wrapping. It was like being handed a loot bag~!

Inside the loot bag was Final Fantasy Tactics A2~!!~ This is a game I'd been wanting since before it came out- waaaay back when I was in London, Kass and I would get excited about it together. I couldn't buy it before because I didn't have a DS, but then Kass sent me his old one for X-mas, but I didn't have to money to buy the game- so it was good~!~~! <3>.>

Karl felt a bit sulky about that 'cause he felt that it wasn't very original and thoughtful and whatever- but I would completely disagree~!~ <3>

The next present was a big surprise, though, I must admit. He started out with, "Well, it's a website you go to that you said you could spent like a hundred dollars at." The first thing I could think of was my week-long obsession with the SilverJewelryClub.com, which sends you free jewelry for the price of shipping..."Uh, no, it's a site you've been to for longer than that." I was completely stumped until he told me... ASIAN FOOD GROCER~!~!~ "I was going to buy stuff from them, but then I realized that I didn't know what stuff you want, so you can go on the site and pick stuff out and I'll pay for it." It was a really good present, because we could do it together. I sat on his lap while I browsed the website and picked out an assortment of gummies and a few other candies, and then he made me go away once I'd reached my monetary limit so I wouldn't see the shipping (Because I was sulking about it..)..I saw the shipping anyway, but let him get away with it 'cause it was my birthday and he'd complain as such. <3>

When we got outside- we discovered that it was snowing! Little tiny miniscule dust-like snow, but still snow! (It wasn't until the day after that I realized that it was probably the first snow of the season~! <3)>

And then I drove home, we talked on AIM, and eventually went to bed.

But it was, hands down, the best birthday I've ever had, (Karl purposely had me come over and do mostly 'nothing', so that nothing could screw up the yay of the day,) and most certainly has broken a trend of late of my birthdays sucking. I suspect that Karl will continue to ensure that my birthdays are good ones~

There, I elaborated~ I just hope that I didn't forget anything. That is the problem with waiting to post. T_T Kaaarl~ If I forgot anything, tell me~ <3>

Best birthday ever.

Just not enough time to elaborate yet.

Uug~

So, we D&D until about 12:15am last night, and I didn't get to bed until around 1:10...and then I kept waking up. I think I dreamed I woke up because the ground was shaking...anyway.

Cameron's DMing. He's never done it before, so it's pretty story-driven and bit unconventional. Especially when he let us be odd races. Justin's a doppleganger with a skull with hair on that he combs, I'm a tibbit, which I'm pretty sure isn't actually a D&d race, but there was a website with it so I got to be one (basically, scrawny human child-size with ears and a tail and the ability to shapeshift into a tiny four-legged creature...) Ken's a half-elf, and Karl's a human, and it's all fairly amusing.

Karl's char has anger management problems, Justin's is schizophrenic, mine is hyper, but has visions of burning and death due to story plot which makes him drop to his knees screaming and then cry for the next twenty minutes. Ken's character, as far as I can tell, (he's a very very passive player,) is just an alcholic, who can't drink..(he passed out after two drinks...)

The campaign was fun..but I regret how late it went as I had to get up at 7:10 this morning and go to a three hour class of supreme boredom.

I got a Penny/Kith present yesterday~ A cool black skull & crossbones mini-lunchbox, an assortment of balloons, some neatly patterned highlighters, and CHOCOCAT PEZ~! Eee~

And two prezzies for Trauma, well, I think. The yellow cracker one was a slow hit, she ignored it at first, then treated it like a mousie and went nuts for it. The other one, I'm not entirely sure what it is. A..honey pot? She's so far ignored it, but I think it's because it looks too similar to the pompoms I have scattered down in the basement- and she mostly ignores those unless I throw them for her.

School is so much scarier when it has a graduation date to it.
